Drop Off/Pick Up

Arrival 8:40-8:55
- Unload only when stopped in one of the curb spots labeled 1-5. No doors should open and unload students prior.
- Students will follow the painted directional path into the building maintaining distance from others.
- NO ONE is allowed to gather on the walkway outside of the front entry doors. All students must be dropped off in the car rider line. No WALK-UP drop off will be allowed.
- The exit onto Hamburg Pike will be a RIGHT turn only. All others must exit Charlestown Pike.
- Do not block the driving lane on Charlestown Pike. The large Jeff Parks Department parking lot is used for turn around and a staging line.
- Do not block the entrance to the back parking lot of TJ to allow for busses entering and exiting.
- No turns into the lot can be made into the staging lanes from Charlestown Pike (if traveling the east direction).

Dismissal is from 3:25 to 3:45 p.m.
- Two lines of parked traffic will be used to help keep parked cars off of Hamburg Pike. A staff member will be available to assist with the merge of the two lines.

Car Rider Information
Car riders are to enter the building at the main entrance. For your child’s safety, children are to wait for a school employee who will begin student arrivals, unloading one lane at a time. All bus and daycare van riders will use the back parking lot entrance.
All car riders must be picked up promptly between 3:25 and 3:45 p.m. each afternoon. Adults should line the front curb where students will enter the car curbside. Please do not block the back driveway where buses exit. If cars begin to block the lane of Charlestown Pike, please use the Jeff Parks parking lot as overflow. Do NOT sit idle in the driving lane.
Persons responsible for picking up students at dismissal will need the assigned number displayed on the rearview mirror of the vehicle. If the individual picking up a student does not have the number they will be required to enter the school office and provide proper identification. Please make sure you have listed on our records individuals that are allowed to pick up your child. During the school year if you need to change pick up arrangements please notify the office. Please call the office prior to dismissal if someone different will be picking up for the day.
Bus Rider Information
To help your child be ready for bus transportation, please teach them the following:
- If your student misses the bus at their regular stop, do not follow the bus to the next stop and let your child walk/run beside the bus to get on. The driver cannot see the student in the danger zone, especially if it is dark and could possibly hit them as they pull away from the stop. Take your student to school.
- Make children stay at least 10 feet away from the bus until they begin to enter. Children will be able to see the driver and the driver can see them.
- If children must cross the street to the bus they should cross the street 10 feet (five giant steps) in front of the bus where they can see the driver and the driver can see them.
- Warn children that, if they drop something, they should never pick it up. Instead, they should tell the driver and follow the driver’s instructions. If they bend over to pick up a dropped object, they might not be seen by the driver and could be hurt if the driver pulls away from the stop.
- Remind children to look to the right before they step off the bus. Car drivers in a hurry sometimes try to sneak by the bus on the right hand side.
- Teach your child to secure loose drawstrings and other objects that may get caught in the handrail or door of the bus as they are exiting.
- If you meet your child at the bus stop after school, wait on the side where the child will be dropped off, not across the street. Children can be so excited at seeing you after school that they may dash across the street and forget the safety rules.
